Primary roll as Tier3 core network support for Toll Free, Voice Callback, and Call Forwarding application servers. Also the tasks of automating and scripting routine functions, and the ongoing conversion to virtualization of the existing Linux and Windows servers.

Designed 100G and 10G links on Verizon’s long haul DWDM optical network on Ciena 6500 & 5430/5410 ULH systems, as well as Fujitsu and Tellabs MESH links. Worked with the following Verizon software systems: ICON, CCP, TCOMS, nSAP. Desiged drawings and developed new Stencil sets in MS VISIO.

Designed IP backhaul from the cell site routers to the MAD routers at the central office, including microwave designs, and system reconfigurations for bandwidth upgrades. Updated the inventory database and the IP database called SLIPED, often writing programs to automate the changes. Troubleshot failed designs or configuration with field techs. Tracked carrier leased circuit deliveries and disconnections and verified records with billing statements.

Contract engineer for Verizon's NIDI & GEEI group. Reconciling records of Long Haul optical networks using Verizon’s software called RMOD (field work orders) and ICON (network database). Activities include correcting TIDs, OpAMP Traversals, and Fiber Audits in ICON.

Represented the South Region as part of a five person national group for Granite database development for LTE, AAV, Microwave, and Pseudowire projects. Wrote technical documents and standards for new devices deployed throughout the network. Designed Granite Templates to model devices and ports in the database such as load balancers, microwave units, MGW switches, and disk storage arrays. Created the intake process flowchart for requests of new device templates to be modeled in the database and on XNG web pages. Developed reports and data field rules to enforce a more accurate database. Conducted national training with video conferences or PowerPoint presentations.

In the assigned markets, led the transformation from a 2G network to 3G and 4G by replacing the systems to create a full IP backbone. Responsible for the work orders, trouble tickets, BSC rehomes, TCIC rebalances, and site turn-up quotas of several markets each quarter with guidelines from Regional Planning & Budget. Logged onto multiple systems to troubleshoot turn-up of VoIP with the technicians. Tracked the progress with MS Project on the file server.

Worked with vendors of optical entrance facilities and interconnecting SONET rings to expand T-Mobile’s leased optical network. Upgraded SS7 and 911 PSAPs onto an IP network. Provided growth plans to match projected subscriber growth. Negotiated the cost of new SONET rings with vendors. Tracked cell site work orders for growth of UMTS by designing and provisioning circuits based on the market’s SLA with AAV vendors. Designed roaming sites with microwave links using MapInfo for areas with high access charges in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Implemented traffic migrations for decommissioning of DACS, MCS, and SONET broadband to an IP network.

Assigned ports and channels for CFA & FOC with carriers. Designed paths from the wire center back to the central office, and ordered DS1s to cell sites for markets in the southeast part of United States.

Project managed the deployment of new systems for the Georgia switches and ring node co-locations while responsible for the transport design for the SONET rings in Nebraska and Kansas. Procured power devices, patch panels, and cables for the project. Coordinated end to end system tests with the switch techs in both markets before payment signoff. Wrote a Statement of Work on various projects to receive quotes, then awarded the bids and created a tracker in Ariba. Conducted the upkeep of the Master Contractor’s List so that new contractor companies are in the Alltel billing system. Designed transport circuits from DS1 to OC48 DWDM nodes in Metasolv. Appointed as the department DACS SME because of previous experience, which led to being trained on the newer Fujitsu 4500, 4300, & 600-ADM and evaluated the Turin DACS in the lab. Left Alltel to return to Texas when kids started attending school.

Team leader for over 30 engineering projects, as the lab project manager for FOA turn-ups. Coordinated the efforts of cross-department crews from 3 to 22 people depending on project phase. Wrote procedures for software and hardware upgrades, capacity expansions, and new feature implementation on 5 different systems that all used TL1 commands in a UNIX platform. Member of advisory committees for customer documentation, requirements, and development design reviews. Most projects required direct reporting to PLMs, directors, VPs, and customers. Also, conducted demonstrations, training, and lectures as the DACS subject matter expert. Traveled to sites in the United States and Canada to oversee upgrades, or to support sales staff. Determined if outsourced production met product requirements, and oversaw and tested any re-works made during manufacturing. Wrote scripting tools to automate laborious phases of the procedures. Used MS Visio and AutoCAD to create drawings for training, lecture, and documentation. Setup system lab trials with SONET/SDH test equipment, networked IT facilities for remote terminals, and computer interface equipment for customer demonstrations and failure analysis. When funding diminished for R&D in fall of 2000, I was moved into the ITAS group to provide 24x7 phone support for clients conducting procedure upgrades. Laid off in Telecom bubble burst of 2001.
