Thom is assisting the Department of Energy, Building Technologies Office, through Lindahl Reed, with projects related to residential buildings. His areas of interests include energy auditing, energy modeling, weatherization, training, and rural development. He has a degree in Appalachian Studies from Berea College, as well as being a Master Gondola Builder, having spent over a decade in Venice, Italy. Thom started working in Weatherization in the early 90s, while he was a boatbuilding apprentice in Maine, but has worked in the sector full-time since 2010, as an auditor, QCI, monitor, building science trainer/proctor, and energy advisor.
