Commercial LitigationExperience included a Supreme Court proceeding regarding a bond valuation disputed by two sovereign wealth funds, a Royal Commission inquiry, the liquidation of an entity in a global investment and advisory group, an ACCC proceeding brought against a global financial services company and a claim brought under victims’ compensation legislation. Skills include writing research memos, evidence preparation, drafting letters, witness statements and affidavits, document management.Construction ProjectsThe team advised project sponsors, contractors, financiers and government bodies on major construction and engineering projects within Australia and offshore. I attended client meetings, drafted provisions for various EPC, EPCC, O&M and supply agreements, identified and reviewed key O&M agreements for a strategic client’s acquisition of major energy assets from a state government and drafted research notes.Intellectual Property – Dispute ResolutionMy first rotation within the firm focussed primarily on patent litigation, representing a global generic pharmaceutical corporation in Federal Court validity and infringement proceedings. I produced research memos on both substantive and procedural issues, prepared briefs for counsel, took part in case management conferences and contributed to the successful High Court appeal Apotex v Sanofi [2013] HCA 50. I was also engaged in copyright and trademarks disputes, including for rural Aboriginal artists on a pro bono basis.
