At the conclusion of the design and operability review, I was selected to continue reviews for the Pretreatment Facility, and to perform formal assessments for the the US Department of Energy on the Waste Treatment.

Mechanical I worked in the WTP Support group evaluating the WTP facility for potential operational vulnerabilities in the facility. My main focus area is to conduct evaluations on the various Mechanical Handling systems throughout the facilities. The mechanical evaluations consider normal operations and maintenance activities. I worked in the Process Engineering Department performing engineering calculations, writing equipment specifications, and creating P&IDs with associated line lists, valve lists, and equipment lists. I worked as a Contract Engineer through Aerotek Engineering. The job in house at the time was installing a Heat Recovery Steam Generator and Steam Turbine to create a combined cycle plant with the existing simple cycle combustion turbine generator. I was the Engineer for Lees-Bradner. Lees-Bradner is a small machine tool company emerging from bankruptcy. The first two weeks in January I worked in the field in Guelph, Ontario, Canada overhauling a hobber and bringing it back into production. I was let go due to lack of work when new work did not develop.

I worked in the Mechanical Systems Department. The project is design to process highly radioactive, chemically hazardous material to separate and concentrate the constituents and then vitrify the residues into inert glass logs.Checked and created P&IDs, Flow Sheets, and equipment drawings. Performed and checked engineering calculations. Conducted training.

I supervised the Mechanical Department which varied in size from 5 to 20 people depending on the work. R.W. Cooper & Associates was a small AE firm that specialized in roofing shingle production line work and used work in fiberglass mat, food service, and industrial chemical facilities to even the flow of work. Created P&IDS, Flow Sheets, and Arrangement.

Secondary Systems GroupI performed engineering support to keep the plant working 24/7. Performed daily inspection walk downs of my assigned systems in the steam plant. My assigned systems were Main Feed, Service Water, Station Heat, Chemical Treatment, bulk Hydrogen, Gland Water, and Auxiliary Steam. My assigned backup systems were Main Steam, Turbine.

I performed overhaul work on US Navy nuclear powered ships. Created Overhaul P&IDs, Weld Map drawings, Modification drawings, Arrangement drawings for water, steam, air, trim and drain plumbing system, lube oil, hydraulic oil, fuel oil, and sea water systems.Evaluated equipment repair actions and plans. Approved deviations from Military Specification.

I was a First Class Machinist Mate qualified as an Engine room Supervisor on nuclear submarines. I was a Nuclear Power Instructor and a certified diesel mechanic.Experience in the operation of complex, interacting systems. Systems included high pressure steam, water, fuel oil, lube oil, and hydraulic systems and the controls associated with them..
