I have been working offshore since 1988, starting in catering, until May 1999, then with four years working onshore gaining experience in scaffolding, before returning back to offshore work. Starting 2010, I eventually completed the City & Guilds Level 3 Hydrocarbons P.O.L's ( Distinction )and also tried to pick up basic information from the on-site operators by spending 3 to 4 hours a night after shift shadowing them. Eventually I was lucky enough to be taken on as a trainee with Woodgroup, and have started the onsite NVQ. 3 years later, NVQ finished so now no longer a trainee. Phew! Onwards and upwards.
