I've been teaching English, managing and training teachers since 2005, across Europe and Indonesia. My teaching philosophy is simple; language learning should be motivational and fun, but also relevant and focused on students' needs, using every day materials like music, social media, TV and film.I am an effective academic manager, having steered a large team of teachers through a busy summer school season, guided my school through a successful accreditation inspection and established a training programme based on reflective teaching principles. I am experienced in teaching adults, teenagers and young learners, business and academic students. I have taught in high schools, language academies, factories, hotels and banks. I am also an experienced mentor, helping to develop teachers through reflective practice, workshops and observations. A have a broad interest across the ELT field, including linguistics, material and syllabus design, teaching and training. I am fascinated by how different cultures and nationalities use English in their own context to achieve their goals, and how different learners are motivated to acquire English.
