Throughout my career, I have been the “value-added” component of the organizations I proudly represented. As the General Manager and training manager of two service offices, and an Operations Director of two others, I engaged teams to increase customer count, increase recurring revenue, and reduce expenses. And I’ve done this with an exceptionally low employee turnover rate. How? By realigning culture and employee engagement, I instilled a team orientation where people saw themselves as a group of interconnected entrepreneurs rather than individual contributors acting in a vacuum. I’ve found that an engaged team is essential for profitability and client satisfaction. If I had to describe my leadership approach, I’d say it’s a blend of the components of situational leadership driven by a servant-leader philosophy. In addition, I maintain focus on our end user’s needs and not just on a scorecard or set metrics. While these are important considerations, a holistic approach, common sense, and solid business principles are all part of a successful leader’s toolkit. There’s something more I bring to my work as a leader: learning and development. I wholeheartedly believe in developing organic cultures through effective training and instruction, and enabling stakeholders to make wise business decisions.
