Colleagues describe him as "I first met Tim in 1994 when I was posted to the Second Field Ambulance in Petawawa, Ontario. I was fresh out of Canadian Forces Medical Service School and within a month we were deployed to a humanitarian hospital in Rwanda, Africa. Tim's leadership and knowledge were second to none and under his leadership we excelled and succeeded in a world where blood, pain, suffering and sadness were the norm. Tim led us through that experience and brought us home on the other end as seasoned professionals, where only months earlier we had been junior apprentices. Through the next five years Tim helped guide my career and mold me as a soldier. He continued to hone my medical abilities while pushing my physical abilities further and further. Tim encouraged me to get my advanced first aid instructor certificate and to participate in several ironman competitions. My poor old knees can’t do the ironman’s anymore but I still love teaching first aid to this day. Tim never expected perfection but he always demanded your best effort and he certainly led by example. 15 years later my career has taken a different track than Tim’s, but the exemplary leadership he taught me and the demand for the best effort have stuck with me and served me well. Tim, thanks for everything you have taught me and given me. The time and experiences we have shared have been some of the best of my life and I wish you all the success and happiness this world offers. For those of you who have the pleasure to work with Tim, take the time to draw from that experience everything that you can as you will walk away a better person for it."
