Selected as the only Civilian UK MoD representative to attend the Senior Officer’s Course at the NATO Defence College. Objectives of the course are to prepare participants for senior NATO appointments, and in particular to develop knowledge and analysis of strategic security issues facing the Alliance through lectures and Committees, and to develop an ability to work with NATO and Partner countries’ participants to achieve common goals and enhance mediation and negotiating skills. Assessed as ‘Very Well Suited’ for a NATO appointment. Subsequently attended the NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC) along with senior military and civilian staff from the Middle East and North African countries and NATO allies.

Team Leader responsible for the Through Life Capability Management (TLCM) of the three Programme areas sponsored by the Head of Capability for Special Projects (SP) & Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear protection. Leading a small team of 6 to develop and embed TLCM processes in a broad capability area. Typified by a large number (260+) of low to medium value (£20M) projects within a 10 year programme costing c. £3.5Bn.

As a Secondee to BAES responsible for examining the approach to business across the customer and supplier interface, clearly identifying areas that are embracing the principles of partnering against the canvass of Through-Life Capability Management. Particular focus on identifying areas requiring investment to enable the principles of Partnering and TLCM to flourish.

Including a leadership role, responsible for the delivery of the Support Vehicle Project (through to the ‘In Service’ phase, £1.3Bn) and latterly the Operational Utility Vehicle (in the project definition phase, £700M). Leading a team of 27 to deliver and support complex multinational procurement programmes.

Leading a team of 18 to deliver a complex (7200 vehicles with 42 variants) multinational procurement programme from the development of an acceptable solution to the successful declaration of Systems Acceptance and In-Service (July 07). Particularly focussed on leadership, through life cost (in excess of £2.5Bn) and programme management to ensure delivery to very demanding timescales.

Providing cutting edge Counter Terrorist technology to a particularly demanding user group, necessitating very strong links with the research community, industry and other Gov. Departments. Particularly focused on leadership and delegation, developing stakeholder relationships, and enabling networked capability.
