Director of The Joyce Foundation’s Gun Violence Prevention & Justice Reform Program, focused on building safe and just communities in the Great Lakes region. Tim manages the Foundation’s grant making focused on policies and practices that reduce easy accessibility of guns to those at risk of violence; gun violence related research and data infrastructure; litigation strategies; and education campaigns focused on the risks of gun ownership. Additionally, Tim serves as the Chair of the Fund for a Safer Future, a donor collaborative of 30 foundations and donors, supporting efforts to prevent gun violence across the country, and Co-Chairs the gun policy action committee of the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities, a donor collaborative focused on reducing gun violence in Chicago.

• Developed and implemented legislative and political strategies on gun violence prevention measures and other progressive criminal law issues for consideration by the Obama Administration, several statewide officeholders, in the U.S. Congress, and in state legislatures• Directed nationwide network of over 200 national and state gun violence prevention organizations to develop more strategic and coordinated political, legislative, and organizing agendas• Managed team of 5 policy and campaign focused staff at the Center to facilitate and execute the Center’s priorities within this issue area, and maintain relationships with current and potential outside funders to continue the Center’s work on these issues

• Developed and planned the Member’s legislative program, managed legislative staff, oversaw constituent mail program, and monitored legislative action on the House floor • Launched and directed the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, which the Member chaired, on behalf of the House Democratic Caucus• Staffed the Member before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), including an emphasis on FISA reform, cyber security, counter-terrorism, and IC oversight

• Managed 15 person campaign and consultant team during successful 2006 primary (defeated incumbent) and general elections for Democratic Candidate for Maryland State Comptroller, and facilitated transition committee activities• Oversaw operations of the Comptroller’s statewide political organization post-election and during the lead up to his first successful re-election campaign (2010)

• Directed the Member’s communications program, handled all national and district press relations, managed the Member’s franked mail program, and directed the Member’s award winning online communications outreach• Staffed the Member before the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

• Oversaw, implemented and assisted the DC finance plans for over twenty democratic congressional campaigns during the 2002 election cycle
