My professional journey began in the structured world of financial services, with early roles at PwC and Accenture offering a clear, promising path. Yet, even as I thrived in management consultancy, there was a growing sense that something deeper was calling—a purpose beyond productivity and profit. The turning point came during a trek in the Himalayas with my late brother, where the majesty of nature planted a seed that would change my trajectory. That experience led me to volunteer with the RSPB as a trainee reserve warden, exploring whether my passion for wildlife could become something more than a personal interest. Uncertainty drew me back to the corporate world, where I continued my consultancy career at Deutsche Bank in Singapore. But the quiet pull of conservation never left.A pivotal moment occurred when I crossed paths with the Southeast Asia Director of TRAFFIC, igniting a new chapter that brought together my creative skills and passion for nature conservation. Stepping away from the corporate sector, I embraced wildlife conservation, committing to tell stories that needed to be heard. The work was full of challenges—from capturing elusive species on film to navigating the complexities of the illegal wildlife trade. But I found an ally in BirdLife International, and together, we launched a multimedia campaign for the critically endangered Helmeted Hornbill. It wasn’t just about storytelling; it was about influencing change where it mattered most. The greatest test of my commitment came with the creation of "The Circle of Life," a film documenting the lives of Oriental Pied Hornbills in Singapore. The project deepened my research into hornbill behaviour and marked a turning point in my conservation career. The film earned awards, and I was honoured to contribute to BBC Wildlife Magazine.Today, I find myself at the Woodland Trust, where I lead GIS and data-driven strategies that help safeguard the landscapes we love. My role is a synthesis of all the skills and experiences I’ve gathered along the way—merging technology, project management, and conservation to drive national-scale efforts. It’s not just about building tools or sharing stories; it’s about empowering others to make a real difference. My journey continues, but the purpose is clear: I’m here to drive lasting, meaningful change by blending data and narrative to protect the natural world. Together, I believe we can accomplish extraordinary things.
