As a Welding Engineer in the Subsea Umbilical business unit, I plan new weld related projects including equipment specification, and process development for welding. Primary focus is given to Quality, Safety and Cost Improvement functions, as they pertain to the welding process. Welding procedure development, welder qualification, and code compliancy to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section IX are common tasks addressed. This is done by utilizing knowledge of project specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, along with established engineering principles.As a Project Engineer I work under limited supervision, receiving occasional guidance on complex or unusual problems. I coordinate activities of the project that related to the design, fabrication and testing of Subsea systems including resolving design problems, modifying designs and scheduling of tests for efficient and timely delivery of the systems. This includes determining the requirements for equipment design reviews for specific projects. I prepare written documentation on projects for review by management, customers, and other company representatives.

As the lead weld engineer at a large automotive facility, my main responsibilities include the development and implementation of new automated and manual welding processes with ability to recommend and specify equipment details for resistance welding, GMAW, GTAW, and laser applications. These duties include developing, qualifying, and optimizing welding processes for applications. Identifying weld defects with solutions by creating repair operations for the defective weldments. Processing non-conformance reports and developing “Failure Mode Matrix” documentation. Coordinate between Manufacturing, Engineers and Customers as required. Develop system wide troubleshooting documentation. Manage the Ultrasound inspection system for quality assurance. Manage new product launches, prototypes, and equipment installation to include personnel training and continual improvement efforts.

Perform NDT and inspection of aircraft structures and power plant assemblies using eddy current, penetrant, magnetic particle, physical properties testing, radiography, and ultrasonic inspections to identifying cracks and defects. Determine airworthiness of aircraft components in accordance with applicable FAA regulations and manufactures manuals. Manage Nondestructive Testing equipment calibration and process control programs. Conduct radiographic inspections as the lead “Radiation Safety Supervisor” on Boeing 747 and 727 Conducted radiation safety training and hazard awareness to inspection and maintenance personnel.

Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems to detects flaws such as cracks, delimitations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment. Determines metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors. Interprets nondestructive inspection test results, and provides information about defects to repair center.
