Resilience EngineeringTrust - Anti-Abuse- Automated deployments of a service: reducing manual steps from 19 to 0 and saving 4 weeks/quarter of engineering time- Proposed, iterated and implemented a scalable solution that successfully triaged a backlog of 300 tickets across the organization- Coach team members on writing, communication, driving process to done- Technical team lead for the Anti-Abuse SRE team- Generated a template for quarterly planning around technical problem statements resulting in easier generation of proposals- Proposed and implemented a structured sprint process to grant the team clearer sprint strategy and additional ownership in the process

Game Growth- Delivered test developer environments where developers could stand up their own instance of the internal application for testing; without having to deploy to Beta first- Proposed & got approved/buy-in for refactor of infrastructure code base to allow tests to be written; saving future effort against regressions

S3 Glacier Core- Onboard and mentor new team members- Converted deployments from manual change tickets to fully automated/validated deployments, saving 13 hours per deployment and unlocking additional agility- Wrote alarms around deployment staleness to alert teams to issues with their pipelines- Proposed, planned, and executed a service-wide game day to test critical functionality in the Glacier service- Provided a project-plan template based on work I had done, including examples and how to best use the template- Led an internal interview club to facilitate knowledge sharing around how to contribute to interviewing more effectively- Wrote a utility to automatically create required AWS resources on service start; removing the need for manual CLI tooling- Changed a process to allow for multiple contributors in shared code packages without running into merge conflicts- Converted an internal service to a fully continuous deployment model to remove the need for a 4 engineering day effort to deploy- Streamlined a process for new region hand-off from a week long process to 1-2 hours, specifically ensuring the process adds value

S3 Glacier Core- Aid in effort to convert deployments to a fully continuous model for faster (less engineering time needed), automated, and safer deployments- Manage hardware footprints for price optimization as well as ensuring we're using the fleet to it's full potential- Dive into service logs to spot any potential issues, root causes, and find paths to resolution to keep our customers delighted and maintain AWS / Glacier's extremely high standard of uptime- Monitor services to watch for any outliers or potential customer pain, drive these to resolution and discuss with team on what happened- Write integration tests for tooling that test functionality and detect issues early- Contribute to test coverage of scripts, write new scripts, make them modular for code re-use throughout Glacier, for various automation tasks that can help us save time- Write tooling with full unit tests to convert flat-file templates to Cloudformation stacks- Onboard with new AWS services (internal) to provide a clearer picture of the service- Write and maintain internal documentation

- Implemented automation for revoking user access on termination / leaving company- Moved manually deployed tools into Puppet so they could be deployed in a repeatable, consistent fashion- Puppet merge approver of code to go to production and source of knowledge for Puppet changes- Train colleagues on existing systems and new systems; ensured everything I put in place was well documented / validated by team- Helped manage growing infrastructure in global datacenters- Took manual processes and wrapped them into automation orchestration for less human error, leading to a better customer experience- Wrote monitoring checks with self-healing capability- Enabled developers to get their set of tools quickly (automation in config management), speeding up business and success rate

- Improved Windows infrastructure (Server 2008 - Server 2012 R2)- Created deployment images for district computers / laptops- Supported district staff via helpdesk and phone support- Assisted in upgrades of core network equipment including: firewalls, load balancers, switches, routers- Deployed new servers to remote sites and deployed images to workstations
