I initially was hired into role to deliver a single PPM platform (Planview Enterprise) across the whole of RBS, including an updated and standardised methodology around portfolio, program, project, resource, risk and dependency management. I went on to deliver Scaled Agile process and toolset with LeanKit, integrating with Planview and JIRA for full end to end portfolio management with lean/agile delivery methods, along with enhancements to the bank's change management governance framework to support Agile ways of working.Additionally, I supported the business franchise teams in the management and delivery of their change portfolios through insight over dependencies and risks, resourcing, project financials, etc.I left RBS through voluntary redundancy at the end of September.

As a consultant for GFT, I was engaged to manage the testing program for the RBS Markets division on implementing the Oracle eBusiness Suite financial tools, including software and process testing. I supported subsequent ongoing process improvements as the Oracle suite bedded in.

As a consultant for GFT, I delivered end to end test management of data migration and integration activities from RBS NV to RBS plc. as well as restructuring and legal entity changes resulting from business divestment.

I managed the defect tracking and resolution for a major upgrade of the POS systems, including tills, payment processing and stock control.

As a consultant for Acutest, I managed all aspects of testing on two programmes of work - a replacement job booking system and a Windows desktop rollout. As part of this, I introduced the concept of risk-based testing to these programmes to speed up test activity and product/software reliability.

Managed the testing process for various projects including cheque and loan fraud detection/prevention, sending balance and transaction information by text message and implementing security tokens for two-factor authentication during internet banking logon.

Responsible for whole test lifecycle for enhancements to their debit card management system, including the transfer of TSB Bank cards to the system and co-ordinating the user testing for the introduction of Chip and PIN cards.

Full testing lifecycle for the migration of data from the NatWest systems following the takeover by Royal Bank of Scotland. This included testing data cleansing routines and reporting on data that did not fit the standard migration mapping design.

I worked as part of a team responsible for testing the bank’s new debit card management system. This system, which had a PC front-end with online and batch mainframe processing behind, covered the ordering and maintenance of new and replacement debit and cashpoint cards, authorising branch and ATM customer transactions and production of management information on card usage, etc.Main activities related to creating test plans, conditions and scripts for the new system and for the migration of data from the existing card systems. Testing also included the production of physical cards from the new system and their use in ATMs and at branch counter terminals to prove the end to end process.During this time I also ran the Year 2000 audit project for the card system.

This project was to enhance the company’s accounting and reporting system, specifically to obtain accurate reporting on the cost of goods sold. This involved identifying and designing feeds from existing stock, sales and purchasing systems. As the project progressed, I transferred to a team to test the new reporting system.

I worked on Esso’s Year 2000 project, analysing their systems to identify areas that would not handle the century change and making amendments to use a set of standard date conversion routines.

Having worked in administrative and supervisory roles within the company for many years before this, I transferred into the IT department in August 2006.I worked in the Life Assurance section of the IT department on projects covering new product launches, tax and regulatory changes, commission disclosure rules and a re-design of client output.I left the company in 1996 to become a freelance contractor.
