In this role, I became active in making strategic decisions based on data. I became more involved with RFQ’s, utilizing BI analytics to guide procurement decisions, and developing tools to collect data for sustainability reporting and predictive algorithms. I also began acting as the global subject matter expert for Smartsheet and designed solutions to further collaboration through tech. I've built a strong working knowledge of the business to make decisions in line with the immediate logistical needs of projects along with client procurement goals and our company’s overall sourcing strategy.

In this role, I transacted the purchase of millions of dollars' worth of paper and other raw materials, created the technology workflow for a team of six, implemented automation that has saved hundreds of man-hours, and on-boarded dozens of suppliers to our process of supplying material for InnerWorkings jobs. Paper, as a commodity, is not complicated. Every procedure that I implemented in this role was an attempt at approaching the task in a smarter way. Since the transactional part of this role won’t exist in a few years, I continuously worked to apply my knowledge to INWK’s greater problems and contribute to a consistent and profitable future.

Cincinnati, Ohio

I used the summer of 2016 to gain additional experience and knowledge with production, premedia, print services and workflows at Schawk's Cincinnati offices. I was able to work around both the print services and client services teams to get a strong understanding of how Schawk helps to protect brands across media channels by producing superior quality assets while at the same time improving supply chain efficiency. I analyzed and scored print quality of samples from packaging printers across the country and played a role in establishing standard brand colors for a Beam Suntory spirit brands.

At Sealed Air, I worked extensively with Adobe Illustrator and ESKO software to produced electronic artwork and separations for the flexographic printing of flexible packaging. Whether I was building new artwork based upon customer request, or editing existing customer artwork that required changes, I developed a strong understanding of packaging design and flexographic principles. I also expanded my knowledge of corporate business operations at a Fortune 500 company while working directly on products for global brands.

Clemson, South Carolina

At Campus Banner + Design, I designed and produced over 100 jobs for on and off-campus clients using Adobe Creative Suite and large format digital printers. We produced a very wide variety of products while I was there; from printing small stickers and flyers to overseeing the creation and installation of wall graphics in several major Clemson facilities, I took dozens of creative jobs from start to finish. There was always something new happening, and some of my most enjoyable days at work were when I took on and took care of huge projects in a short amount of time. In addition to design work and production, I also was able to provide friendly and effective customer service for my first six weeks. While working as customer service intern, my written communication skills improved dramatically, and I grasped the intricacies of the business quickly (there really is no faster way of learning what your company does and how it does it than to explain it to potential customers).

After working as a lifeguard for three summers, I took a step up to management, where I was responsible for customer relations between patrons and employees, controlling the chemical levels in the pool, maintaining a clean facility, and scheduling shifts for up to 20 employees. I also worked with the community to organize and promote several events at the pool each year.
