I have 25 years experience in production / operations management with in the apparel industry. Before that I was doing industrial engineering within in the apparel industry and other industries. This stood me in good stead for increasing production out put with the same staff levels and using new technologies, methods and staff management controls.I started off as a management cadet with Garman Holdings Ltd and completed my industrial engineering training and became a certified GSD practitioner. I was made responsible for methods construction, costings of garments maintaining the staff bonus system, plant layouts. And investigating new technologies to improve factory efficiencies and output.I then work for Wishart's in Levin and Apparel Corp in Auckland where I started to get into Production and Operations Management.Finally I took the Production Managers roll with Classic Manufacturing Ltd (now called Classic Group Ltd)in New Plymouth. Finally being promoted to Factory Manager. This was a sole charge position and I was responsible for the day to day running of the factory , financial, and production etc reporting to the board of directors.In my time there I reduced staff levels and increase production levels by installing a computerised cutting machine and a automated garment handling system. And the introduction of new machinery.I was then asked to come up to Auckland and manage the Auckland Factory and contractors.Which I currently still do.
