This will be a state-of-the-art, secure fabrication facility located in the U.S. focusing on government and U.S. suppliers' development needs. It will manufacture at low volume, accommodate multiple process technologies and run both 200mm legacy and 300mm state-of-the-art wafer sizes.Currently the government is supplied by several trusted suppliers in the U.S. The problem with this approach is that few of these suppliers focus on Government and U.S. supplier needs. They are predominately commercial suppliers with their main focus on the commercial market and their stockholders. Industry reports estimate that 30% to 60% of the product currently produced for the government is compromised or counterfeit due to it being manufactured offshore by the current supplier network.
