I founded this company with a university friend in order to gain invaluable experience and income working as a videographer. To date we have completed projects for a host of established companies such as the Priory Group, Voi Jeans, The Territorial Army, NUS, One World Media and the Queen Elizabeth Foundation.Working with such reputable clients on large contracts has brought its own pressures and the responsibility of ensuring our services and products are of the highest standard. Each client brings their own requirements and brand identity so it is imperative that their needs are fully understood and met. We have also been awarded funding to travel to Ethiopia to make a documentary about the Blue Nile River that runs through the country. It was a fantastic and challenging experience that developed me as both a professional and a person. Founding Bird Street Films has allowed me to significantly develop my skills in all creative areas, from producing and editing content through to branding and advertising. Many of the projects have tight deadlines and stringent briefs, something that has also helped progress my organisation and time-keeping skills. Running a business has required me to take on multiple roles, giving me greater understanding in sales and marketing, multimedia development, B2B communication, accountancy, finance and more. Furthermore I have been allowed to have total creative control on projects, giving me the opportunity to have major input on all stages of planning and production.

This personal business venture has provided me with a means to earn through buying and selling products over the internet. The process involves checking the market to determine sales patterns, profit margins and competitors whilst predicting possible sales figures before a deal is struck with the manufacturer or wholesaler. I am solely responsible for merchandising, marketing and all the logistics involved. This small scale trading has taught me many useful practices that I have been able to transfer to different areas.

As bar manager I was in charge of a team of around 25-30 staff, most of whom where agency and therefore personal was constantly changing, at a pop-up marquee venue which held Christmas parties for up to 1100 guests. The role gave me accountable for every aspect of the bar and drinks service across the months parties. Delegating duties, maintaining stock levels, dealing with customer and staff issues, organising drinks reception, wine waiting and table orders were just a few of the responsibilities I had to oversee. The job provided fantastic experience and has given me huge confidence in my own management abilities.

This position provided me fantastic experience of working within a financial institution. I was employed to work on a contract with RBS dealing with inbound calls from customers regarding loans, mortgages and other forms of lending. In my time at Aegis I learnt how to navigate the banking databases used by RBS and its subsidiary NatWest. These databases contain vast amounts of sensitive data and using them has given me a real sense of the need for utmost confidentially when working within this or any other data sensitive industry.
