Like all good things in life, it all started with speadsheets.My first job out of university was as a data analyst for a large electronics retailer; I spent my days looking through dozens of spreadsheets, manually extracting and transforming data for upload into the company's enterprise resource planning system. It was time-consuming and tedious. It was not long before I thought to myself, "Surely there is a better way." Using the basic programming skills I had been taught in school, I busted out the VBA and designed a small application which allowed bulk data extraction and upload from our spreadsheets, saving the team hours of time every week. I had so much fun, I knew I needed to take my skills further.Years later I now have experience with Java, PHP, Javascript, Drupal, Composer, NPM, Git, PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress, Vue.js, Kotlin, Linux, Docker, AWS and many others. The most enjoyable parts of my day are when I get to learn cool new things.And yes, I still enjoy spreadsheets.
