I have been the leader of the Manage Construction Process Improvement Team for the last 12 years. Our performance metric is reducing the cycle time from project request to approval. From design thru review and permitting. Then all the way thru the construction process. The team is comprised of members from Engineering, Admin, Accounting, Materials, Contractors and Architects.I have participated in Master Site Planning utilizing the CHW Project Delivery Model. In 2007, we completed a plan for an $800M campus consolidation and build-out. This combined two campuses and replaced all existing patient bed space. In addition, a new parking structure and Medical Office Building would have been added.I have interfaced with external legal groups to manage construction contracts relating to non-CHW contractors. I have been through two courses with CHW Legal on administration of standard contract forms.I led the efforts to reduce operating costs. For example, we replaced all florescent light tubes with efficient models, allowing 5% electricity savings. We also replaced an aged water chiller with one that requires half the power of the old one. We replaced the original water softeners in the Central Utility Plant with one that saves 50,000 gallons of water each time it regenerates. In addition, all landscape irrigation was put on timers to reduce consumption. I was involved in the early development of a coordinated Emergency Management effort involving the local government and the other hospitals in our county. Physician relationships are one of my strong points. They provide key insight into many facets of healthcare operations. During my time at Dominican, we worked with Perinatologists to build a new Level III NICU. We also expanded and remodeled our Radiology services to include a larger xray reading room and new imaging equipment. In addition, we worked with cardiologists when we added a second Cardiac Cath Lab.Specialties: Team-building, Cost control for labor, operating and capital budgets.
