Source new designs from outside designers to enhance company portfolio and perception in the industry.Worked on a considerable amount of product development projects in conjunction with the Allseating Management and outside designers. Worked on launch of 6 new product lines in 2 years. Worked on development of several more products due to launch over next 2 years.Designed the Ayles chair for Allseating.

Toronto

Seating Division Manager responsible for production management, new product development, productivity improvements, cost reductions and vendor sourcing.Developed 60 new products from various designers and Klaus Nienkamper since July 2005 which have won 20 design awards including 2 table collections. Have specified 2 products which are highly successful and personally designed 5 products.Sourced and installed a CNC Leather Cutter resulting in significant productivity, ergonomic and material utilization improvements. This machine revealed leather discrepancies which resulted in resourcing leather supplier and significant cost savings. Training existing staff doing manual marking and cutting to successfully operate this highly computerized and sophisticated machine.Installed synchronized cellular manufacturing cell which resulted in significant productivity and capacity improvements. In 2009 this cell produced 12 months worth of production in 3 months time.Worked with Daniel Libeskind on his first furniture design, "The Spirit House Chair" introduced at the new Crystal addition to the Royal Ontario Museum. Developed custom designed furniture by Shim-Sutcliffe for the Integral House in Toronto in 2011. Collaborated with Phil Freelon on a custom baobab tree inspired table for his MIT exhibit in 2011.

Responsible for Process, Methods and Productivity Improvements. Specify and purchase equipment for manufacturing and material handling. Implemented synchronized cellular manufacturing for several product lines. Develop and relayout foam plant move with improved productivity and reduced floor space. Saved the company approximately $1 mil per year.

Markham

Time Study and Methods Analyst for 7 years performing time studies and database management for labour rates. Labour reporting and methods improvements. Developed computer automated processes within the industrial engineering department to reduce time creating reports and processing data. Worked with management and production staff to develop and introduce the first team based group rate incentive system in the entire corporation after 80+ years of individual piecework. The successful introduction of this system was then further developed and introduced to the rest of the organization world wide. Manufacturing Engineer in $90 million seating factory for 5 years performing project management for process improvements, plant layouts and product development. Worked with engineering, management and production staff to develop and introduce synchronized cellular manufacturing. Personally initiated and managed projects to improve ergonomics and productivity which resulted in over 1.5 million dollars of cost savings and significantly reduced risk of RSI through automation and better methods. Co-managed a 3 million dollar project to successfully relocate a 16 million dollar per year seating line from Grand Rapids MI to Markham ON and saved $3 million through product development, process improvements, retooling and local vendor selection.
