I'm currently the Chief Communications Officer at the Institute for Free Speech. The Institute for Free Speech promotes and defends the First Amendment rights to freely speak, assemble, publish, and petition the government through strategic litigation, communication, activism, training, research, and education.Previously, I was the Director of Communications and Lead Messaging Strategist at Council for a Strong America. Council for a Strong America is the umbrella nonprofit for five membership organizations comprising the unique and powerful voices of business, military, law enforcement, faith, and sports – working together to prepare young Americans for success.Prior to that, I was the Senior Editor at VirginiaPreps.com for over twelve years, following three years as a writer. I'm now Editor Emeritus at VirginiaPreps, and write and cover events for them occasionally. During my time at that site, I helped build it and its brand into one of the strongest and most successful high school sports websites in the entire country. I helped turn VirginiaPreps into the top site on the Rivals.com / Yahoo! high school network through my own writing, editing, and media appearances.In addition, I've authored hundreds of pieces at my personal website, TheAxisOfEgo.com. There, I've created and maintained an ever-growing writing portfolio that includes commentary and observational pieces on a wide range of topics, from the whimsical to the serious. Moreover, I'm also a licensed attorney in good standing with the Virginia State Bar. I maintain a solo practice and very occasionally still perform legal work.
