CONSTRUCTION OF MOMBASA - MTWAPA -KILIFI (A7) ROAD PROJECT.- New Mtwapa Market Bridge – 345m span Cantilever Bridge comprising of pile foundations at the Abutments and Piers. The bridge consists of 3 No. spans (100+145+100) comprising of Single Box Double cell Cast In Place Box girder Segments of varying heights, widths and length. - Mtwapa Market Roundabout Bridge – 81m span bridge comprising of pile foundations at the Abutments and Pier. The bridge consists of 2No. spans and the Superstructure comprises of AASHTO type VI PSC I Girders of 40m Nominal span. The bridge has a total of 20No. girders. All the Girders are precast, post tensioned and then hoisted into position.- Mbogolo bridge – 100m span skewed bridge comprising of pile foundations at the Abutments and Piers and Prestressed Concrete I Girders. The bridge has 4No. spans each span having 5No. AASHTO type IV PSC I Girder beams. All the Girders are precast, post tensioned and then hoisted into position.My roles and responsibilities;• Drafting the methodology and construction schedules for construction of the bridges.• Reviewing, checking and proposing changes of the bar bending schedule for the bridges.• Supervision of Installation of water proofing membrane on the bridge deck.• Drafting of methodology for installation of elastomeric expansion joints, elastomeric bearings and PTFE Pot bearings.• Overseeing the construction pile foundations, abutments and piers.• Coordination with subcontractors for specialized tasks e.g Pile testing (HSDL & CSL), footpath waterproofing• Ensuring compliance with the projects specifications and standards.• Monitoring progress and resolving construction issues.• Conducting quality inspections at critical construction stages.• Collaborating with engineering teams on design modifications if needed.• Adhering to safety protocols during all construction activities.• Concrete Quality Control through conducting Compressive strength tests, slump tests .etc.

UPGRADING TO BITUMEN STANDARD OF AKOBWAIT - BENGA - PAPA PRIMARY SCHOOL ROAD10m Concrete Bridge Single span Reinforced Concrete Bridge of 10m in length and 10.6m width. The bridge had 4No. main beams and 3No. cross beams at the abutments and at mid- span. The foundations for the bridge was pad footings embedded on rock. Upgrading 3km road to Bitumen Standards.The main scope was upgrading the gravel road to bitumen standards. The road composed of subgrade material fill layers, cement improved gravel base and 2 layers of surface dressing with 14/20 and 10/14 pre coated chippings as 1st and 2nd seal respectively.My roles and responsibilities included.• Assist in detail setting out of the entire road section (3KM) and marking of the centerline and right of way. • Preparation of the Programme of Works for the entire road and bridge.• Drafting of the work methodology for the construction of the road and bridge.• Preparation of the bar bending schedule from the drawings provided for approval.• Liaising with the RE’S team on issues and matters concerning the project• Supervision of construction of the entire bridge and ensuring all the required standards and specifications are adhered to.• Ensuring that all Rebars were tied and at their correct position• Monitored and enforced safety protocols on-site.• Managed subcontractors involved in construction activities.• Provided regular updates on project milestones and challenges.• Assisted in monitoring project costs and expenses.• Overall management of the site.

THE NAIROBI EXPRESSWAY PROJECT.- Construction of Interchanges at Capital Center, Haile Selassie, Museum Hill, Westlands, James Gichuru Mlolongo, SGR, JKIA, Eastern Bypass and Southern Bypass.- Construction of various Toll Stations along the entire road section. Precast of Box girders, Pier shafts, Peir Caps, Retaining wall Blocks, Road Kerbs, Crash Barriers among others.- The precast box girders were of four types with different lengths between 27m to 33m depending on the skew angle of the box girder (< 15°, =15°, >15° - <30°, =30°). Selected bridges had pile foundations while others had pad footing foundations embedded on rock. The box girders were placed into position span by span using crawler cranes and gantry cranes.My roles and Responsibilities included;• Supervision of construction of all interchanges, bridges and retaining walls along the Right of Way.• Ensuring that the Precast girders and concreted properly according to the specifications.• Ensuring that post tensioning is done after the precast box girders attain their required strength.• Close monitoring of the progress of works by the contractor and his adherence to the PoW provided.• Supervision of bridge deck rebar installations, concrete casting, water proofing and laying of Asphalt Concrete (AC) • Writing daily reports which included the extent of work as per that day• Concrete quality control – though conducting compressive strength of concrete cubes, slump tests and giving recommendations.

CONSTRUCTION OF WEI WEI & LOMUT BRIDGES ALONG THE MARIGAT - MARICH PASS (B4) ROAD- WEI WEI Bridge is a 58m clear span Composite bridge. It consists of bored cast in place pile foundations, concrete sub structures i.e. abutments, modular steel girder superstructure with a reinforced concrete deck. - LOMUT Bridge is a 70m clear span Composite bridge. It consists of bored cast in place pile foundations, concrete sub structures i.e. abutments, modular steel girder superstructure with a reinforced concrete deck. - Both bridges had approach roads totaling to 500m and 800m in length for Wei Wei & Lomut bridges respectively. The general cross section includes; subgrade material fill, sub base consisting of cement improved gravel & Graded Crushed Stone (GCS) and 50mm thick Asphalt Concrete base. Surface dressing using 10/14 pre coated chippings was done later. My roles and responsibilities included;• Design of 2No. concrete crossing drifts at Marich Pass River and Wei Wei river to facilitate the crossings of heavy machines, since the existing bailey bridges could sustain a maximum weight of 10T• Checking and ensuring that all the shop drawings are in order.• Assist the Engineer in carrying out design reviews.• Preparation of project briefs for both bridges to be used in Technical Meetings.• Checking and confirming Interim Payment Certificates (IPC) and Fee Notes. • Writing minutes during site meetings.• Inspecting and ensuring all the Rebars are in place according to the drawing specifications before concreting.• Concrete quality control – though conducting compressive strength of concrete cubes, slump tests and giving recommendations.• Inspection of the steel modular parts and ensuring that all steel components are available.• Ensuring that all safety protocols & measures put in place are adhered to during all construction activities

Involved in design and supervision of several projects in the structures department. Some of the projects included; o Design and Construction of Pedestrian Crossing Facilities across the Thika Superhighway (A2S).o Supply of Steel Modular Bridges Under Austrian Financingo Construction of Marigat & Endau Bridges and approach roads along Marigat- Marich Pass Road (B17)o Consultancy services for the design of a footbridge across Kisumu- Usenge Road in Bondo, for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST)o In-House Engineering Design for Magongo - SGR Access Road (Approximately 6km)o Bridges Inspection & Safety Assessment; Maili Tisa- Webuye (A8) Highwayo In – House design of 10 km Lamu port Access Road.My Roles and responsibilities included but not limited to;• Taking part in site visits to observe construction progress and assess structural integrity of bridge and road structures.• Attending trainings such as Understanding of Eurocodes, corrosion Control, FIDIC, Midas software Training among others.• Drafting correspondences on behalf of the client to consultants and contractors.• Drafting technical drawings and documentation for bridge projects.• Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and reports.• Conducting research on new materials and construction techniques for bridges.• Participating in meetings with consultants and stakeholders to discuss project requirements and specifications in regard to design and construction of highway structures.• Assisting in the inspection and evaluation of existing bridge structures for maintenance or rehabilitation purposes.• Contributing to the implementation of quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.• Undertaking any additional tasks or projects assigned by senior engineers or supervisors to support departmental objectives.• Assisting engineers in structural analysis and design of bridges and approach roads to bridges.
