Atlantic salmon grown in Australian marine waters are infected with a marine parasite called Amoeba. To temporarily rid the salmon of this parasite we are required to pump them into a fresh water environment. This operation is called bathing. I am in charge of this process and my responsibilities on a daily basis are as follows- Supervise the bathing operation and crew involved- Keep mortality of bathing operation under 0.25% - Oxygen management- Inventory, counter management of fish stocks- Keeping bathing barge operational, maintained and safe

Technical officer at Dover and at the Huon region - Running fish health- Undertake gill checks, histology and weight (Aqua Drum) checks of fish- Data anaylsis to produce results regarding harvest or bathing of the fish- Implement Bio-security programs to minimise disease risks - Fish mortality data entry to guarantee fish inventory numbers in each pen - Monthly forecasting of the bathing schedule- Liaise with other senior stuff do discuss my findings. o For example if I found a cage to have a high gill score I would inform the bath team leader to bath that cage to ensure minimal fish deaths and better feed results- Daily plankton tows - Running the bath when the bath team leader was absent - Involved in the HACCP team for the Huon region Part of the Selective Breeding Team (CSIRO)- Undertake gill checks (Scoring the gills for AGD)- Prepare the fish to be bathed- Organising the pen to ensure it is safe from seal attacks- Calibrate the feed hopper to ensure correct feed amounts- Prepare the scales and gear for the CSIRO Team
