Hello my name is Thomas Merlo, I am a philosophy student at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Throughout my years at Sacred Heart I have had many experiences that has made me into a dependable man who has been educated in Philosophy and Theology in the Catholic tradition. At Sacred Heart I predominately studied the writings of Saint Thomas Aquinas along with papal and Vatican II documents. I also studied Latin, literature, and music. These classes have allowed for me to strengthen my comprehension and understanding of philosophy by using prime sources and showing me the history of philosophy from Thales to Leotard. They have also increased my experience in writing philosophy papers and causing me to apply philosophy to everyday life. I also had the priceless experience volunteering in the city of Detroit. While in the city I worked at the Dominican Literary Center helping men and women work towards their GED, assisted senior citizens at St. Patrick's Senior Center, visited the sick at Law-Den Nursing Home and assisted people at Crossroads. I also was blessed to do mission work in Central America where I painted schools and pored concrete. While in Central America I also leaned a bit of Spanish. I was also formed to become a honest virtuous man being formed through seminars and meetings with my superiors. I have a great passion for writing, teaching, theology and philosophy as well as a zeal to proclaim the truth and help people in need.
