Launched new product stewardship organization to manage environmental impact of Pfizer products throughout the lifecycle, increased timeliness for making EHS information available to support key business decisions (determining sourcing locations, due diligence). Led “pharmaceuticals in the environment” effort to mitigate business impacts (supply disruption, burdensome testing, excessive fees, and/or withdrawal of market authorizations) from proposed regulations and media reports. Achievements – turned around performance of technical group (occupational & environmental toxicology, chemical registration, green chemistry and hazard communication) into a business and customer focused collaborative team, developed central data repository to expedite business operations, streamlined staffing and team budget while expanding group’s responsibilities.

Directed global health and safety organization responsible for potent compound containment, injury prevention, & occupational health. Designed and led a matrix network of site & center technical experts who provided regional health and safety support.Achievements – reduced colleague injury rate by 25% over 3 years, led capacity building training sessions for external suppliers in India, directed crisis management efforts related to asbestos concerns following steam pipe explosion that closed a headquarters office.

Designed and led EHS audit program; developed company standards; provided technical consulting services globally for safety, industrial hygiene, process safety and medicine surveillance programs. Led process safety program post-Bhopal - managed toxic volatile compound risks, developed a dust explosively expert system, designed compliance programs for OSHA PSM, EPA risk management, and EU regulations. Served on incident investigation teams for serious injuries and process safety events.
