As a journalist I have specialised in first-hand and investigative reporting of major national news stories. Subjects include crime and policing; home office policy; the justice system; terrorism; child protection; transport policy; business and safety and the aviation industry. I have also done several stints as a political correspondent, including during the 2024 general election.Aside from excellent news judgement, I have spent many years creating good relationships in government, business and the public sector. I am capable of dealing with extreme pressure, quickly changing situations, and complex subjects. As a BBC correspondent I have had to make challenging decisions in difficult legal and ethical circumstances. I have plenty of experience of reporting live breaking news, television and radio production, long-term investigation and leading small production teams. I am good with data analysis and information management.
