I am a partner at Bose McKinney Evans LLP and a principal in Bose Public Affairs Group with offices in Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. I represent private businesses as well as federal, state, and local public entities including educational institutions and law enforcement in regulatory, administrative, trial and appellate matters in local, state and federal venues. My prior federal service includes working as the Acting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the United States Department of Justice and served as a Senior Adviser to the White House Federal Commission on School Safety. I also served as Senior Counsel to the Secretary of Education focusing on COVID-19 issues which included working with the CDC and HHS to develop guidelines for the safe reopening of schools as well as with the White House Coronavirus Task Force.In addition to the foregoing, I also served as General Counsel to Board of the National Sheriffs’ Association where I provided legal advice to the more than 3,300 elected Sheriffs and their offices throughout the United States. I have served on many Boards and Commissions including as Chair of the Hate Crimes Sub-Committee for the Federal Violent Crime Reduction Task Force, as a member of the Department of Justice’s Regulatory Reform Task Force, and on the federal COVID-19 response focusing on law enforcement & jails/prisons where he served as a consultant to the CDC. Throughout my career I have fought against the scourges of hate speech and cyberbullying. At the Department of Justice I made fighting hate crimes a priority. As a member of the Alliance for Asian American Justice I provide pro bono assistance to Asians Americans who have been the subject of hate crimes. I was appointed by President Biden to a four-year term on the Advisory Committee for the United States Commission on Civil Rights.I also provide legal advice on campaign, finance, and election issues to political parties and candidates throughout the United States including former Indiana Governor and later Vice-President Mike Pence. I have served as counsel in various increasing capacities to every Republican Presidential Campaign since the contested Bush-Gore race in 2000 and many other state and federal campaigns.
