I had the opportunity to be part of an organisation that pioneers innovation even during an unprecedented global healthcare and economic crisis such as COVID-19. As part of the MBA coursework I was pursuing at AGSM @UNSW Business School, I had the opportunity to be a strategy consultant for a project with the prestigious national carrier of Australia and one of the most established airlines in the world – Qantas. This 13-week project gave me the chance to apply my passion for the aerospace industry and past experience in product optimisation to help the Qantas team design a solution for a critical business challenge. • Through conducting customer research and analysing existing operations data, I was able to identify ‘arrival time’ as a key driver of customer perception of airline performance • This was combined with a holistic recommendation on how to step-change product offerings and app-features to establish a stronger correlation between operations and customer sentiment as a means to improve overall customer satisfaction This redefined a company-wide belief that customer satisfaction was dependent on ‘departure time’ instead. St. Jude Medical (now Abbott) is a diagnostics, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals company with global manufacturing operations, selling its products in over 160 countries. This was my first involvement with the complex industry of medical devices. As an engineer at St. Jude Medical, my responsibilities included: • Led global projects for the transfer of technology and capabilities across countries. This primarily included planning the required activities of the project, incorporating cross-functional teams to execute them, travelling to specific host countries to train and onboard teams with the new technology being transferred and ensure complete seamless integration of processes to the new site• Conducted early assessments of required activities and allocation of people and technical resources to enable its execution • Supervised and managed performance of 30 team members executing these tech-transfer and development projects • Commissioned of new equipment, leading validation activities, identifying roadblocks and solutions to overcome them, along with overseeing project progress to ensure its timely delivery • Led analysis of performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities to drive operations optimisation and deliver revenue growth or savings
