WPX Energy is a Tulsa based exploration and production company that became a stand-alone, publicly traded corporation when it spun-off from The Williams Companies, Inc. at year-end 2011.I provide leadership to the contract management department, which provides high-quality support to the marketing group, infrastructure services, and the asset and divestiture team. My group takes an active role in reviewing contract terms and conditions and in making recommendations on proposed revisions to internal departments such as commercial, legal, and credit. We manage several hundred contracts and ensure they are executed in compliance with all SOX and internal policies and procedures. I help my team understand the contracts they manage and provide guidance and input on terms and conditions contained in complex contracts.

As part of the legal department team, my primary responsibility was providing leadership to the gas marketing contracts management department, including drafting, reviewing, and managing various contracts such as master commodity agreements (e.g., NAESB, ISDA), transportation contracts, non-disclosure agreements, transaction confirmations, and licenses. As the contracts point person, I provided support to legal, credit, and other departments addressing various contract questions.

My role was responsible for contract support of the power marketing group. During the divestiture of the power business, I coordinated multiple novations and assignments with counterparties and provided contract assistance to the attorneys in regard to the divestiture. After the divestiture, I supported the gas marketing group and the corporate discontinued operations group. I established automated notifications in the contract system to alert appropriate internal personnel of approaching date triggers in material transportation contracts, such as right of first refusal election deadlines.

I was responsible for the accounting of physical power transactions and financial transactions, including monthly settlements, GL entries, account reconciliations, and cash forecasting. I developed an access database to automate the financial crude, refined products, and NGL settlement process, and I served on the team that performed risk assessments and implemented SOX into the accounting departments.

My role was responsible for analyzing various business unit processes for control weaknesses which could expose the company to monetary losses. I proposed possible solutions to mitigate the risks identified in the processes analyzed, which included the overall process flow of the risk control system, the confirmation process, and the structured deal valuation process. This group was dissolved after the enactment of SOX.

I was responsible for security, system administration, and user training of the Oracle financial system and I designed, implemented, and supported various accounting and marketing systems such as the Hyperion Essbase reporting tool, the PeopleSoft payroll system, and the Indigo power trading system. This group was dissolved when Williams went to a common financial system.
