Managed bioassay group to monitor efficacy of transgenic plants for lepidopteran and hemipteran tolerance. Performed field lepidopteran artificial infestations and molecular sampling at Stine and other DuPont Pioneer locations. Managed 2 research associates and 3 contractors.• Developed protocols and led soybean lepidopteran and hemipteran trait efficacy screenings of transgenic plants using laboratory bioassays, greenhouse and field artificial infestation studies. Based on bioassay results (as well as other molecular analyses), selection decisions were made for advancement of material through the Stages and Gateways process.• Enabled efficacy evaluations by establishing and maintaining “in house” insect rearing program (Southern Green Stink Bug and Soybean Looper Native & Resistant colonies) and providing regular supply of insects to multiple sites for bioassay applications. • Achieved 100% pass rate on all inspections serving as “Key Contact” at Stine. Managed controlled environments group to propagate transgenic soybean plants in greenhouses and growth chambers, as well as perform bioassays on propagated plants. Managed 5 research associates and 10 contractors.• Developed soybean Controlled Environments function enabling propagation of soybean plants and screening of plants for various bioassay, molecular, and agronomic assessments. Acquired and spooled up 10 greenhouses, and several growth chambers.• Received Contribution Award, for performing method development and implemented screens for Soybean Aphid Tolerance, Asian Soybean Rust Tolerance, and Herbicide tolerance with transgenic plants.• Led efforts in successful ISO9001 certification for Controlled Environments Groups (plant propagation and seed inventory focus)

Performed various cloning projects ultimately enabling changes in soybean seed composition. Molecular Biology techniques utilized include endonuclease restriction enzyme digestion and gel electrophoresis, cloning, culturing microorganisms (bacteria), phage infection, site-specific mutagenesis, DNA sequencing, southerns, northerns, heterologous protein expression, westerns, PCR, and biochemical assays.
