Aviation Airframe Structural Mechanic
CurrentUse metal working tools in the maintenance and repair of aircraft structural components; uses shears, brakes, grinders, and presses: refer to and complies with technical publications such as color-code charts, schematic diagrams, sketches, blueprints and instructions; inspects and maintains powered and non powered hand tools and related support equpment; performs periodic inspections of system components and assists in removal and replacement of aircraft component parts such as wings, control surfaces, landing gear, arresting gear, and tanks; inspects and repairs aircraft metal (aluminum alloy), composits, fiberglass, rubber, and plastic; make simple dies, templates, and jigs to be used in metalworking and fabrication of aircraft parts; riveting of all types; uses established procedures to control and prevent aircraft corrosion; observed acceptable industrial safety practices; documented all work performed.
