As a Professional Development Specialist, I review CDA candidates’ portfolios and observe them in their classroom. Using the scoring tool provided by the Council for Professional Recognition I score the candidate based on the evidence gathered during the observation and portfolio review. I meet with each candidate and discuss their strengths and areas for improvement. We also discuss their plan for future professional development. The scores are then entered into the PDS tool online and submitted to the council.

I am responsible for ensuring the daily operations of the center guiding an administrative staff of 4 and teaching staff of 30. I empower the teachers to use their education and experience to create a developmentally appropriate program that meets the individual needs of the children. The center is a non-profit center and licensed for 152 children. I set policies and procedures that ensure we are in compliance with Maryland state licensing, NAEYC and the MD Excels program. The center was NAEYC accredited in October 2017 and reached an Excel level 5 in February 2020. I work with a board of directors that consists of 9 members. I am responsible for setting the annual budget and enforcing it. I work directly with our centers Director of Education to determine appropriate trainings needed to help the teachers reach their full potential. I was directly responsible for developing and documenting policies and procedures as well as annually updating Employee and Parent handbooks.

I provide trainings on various topics for Early Childhood Educators in the Northern Virginia area. I use a variety of teaching methods in order to meet all adult learning styles. I have developed 23 trainings that fall under the eight subject areas of the CDA.

Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Early Childhood Education Center licensed for 156 children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Responsibilities include managing a teaching staff of 24 employees. Ensure that classrooms are meeting all state licensing requirements and the high standards of NAEYC. Through regular observations and employee reviews determine professional development needs both individually and as a team. Prepare and present trainings on a variety of topics to meet staff annual training requirements mandated by the state and organization. The trainings are developed using the standards put forth by the NAEYC accreditation organization using current trends and best practices in education. Keeping in mind that all trainings must be differentiated to meet the learning styles of all staff members. Other responsibilities include Preparing and managing an annual budget as well as tracking financial information and enrollment trends and reporting on a weekly basis to the owners. I maintain the school website, prepare monthly newsletters, provide resources and support to parents, and promote the program through open house events.

Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Early Childhood Education Center licensed for 174 children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Responsibilities included: Managing a teaching staff of 32 employees, development of curriculum. In addition to hiring quality staff I maintained records of professional development and identified areas requiring additional training in order to maintain a high-quality program meeting the company’s vision. Other responsibilities included: introducing new parents to the program, maintaining children and staff files; ensuring all licensing and quality assurance standards were met.

Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the school, which included: Managing a teaching staff of 27 to 30 employees, hiring, training, and development of faculty. Other responsibilities included: promoting the program by preparing for and attending child care fairs, introducing new parents to the program, maintaining children and staff files; ensuring all licensing and quality assurance standards were met; assisting with budget development and adherence.

Responsibilities included preparation and presentation of lessons aimed at four and five-year old children with different educational needs. I endeavored to create a cheerful loving environment where children are encouraged to work with each other to solve problems.

As an Examination Specialist my responsibilities included obtaining facilities, and proctors for a variety of stock broker examinations. Registered candidates for exams and ensured all documents are in order. Coordinated the grading and notification of results to the candidates.
