The ASEAN-China-India Youth Leadership Summit, organised by OSG Youth Alliance, is a dynamic platform that unites young Asian leaders from across the region for a vibrant and collaborative future. This inaugural 6-day, large-scale event unites 180 youths across ASEAN, China, and India to tackle the most pressing sustainability challenges of our time. The Summit features a curated programme of activities based on the theme “Sustainability – Urban Living,” such as the Sustainability Quest, Forum, Startathon Grand Finals, and more.As a Singapore Delegate, I represented Singapore on a global stage. The summit centered around addressing sustainability challenges, and I have gained insights from experts during the Sustainability Forum as well as during the speed mentoring sessions. Beyond tackling challenges, we delved into discussions on youth empowerment and fostering a global mindset – lessons that extend far beyond the summit. We also engaged in indoor and outdoor quests that taught us the importance of teamwork and being adaptable.

For my Sponsorship & Volunteer Development module, I was attached to the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Social Service Office. I conducted phone interviews to assess the suitability of volunteers without supervision. This was a situation in which I had to manage between different tasks at the same time while carrying myself in a confident manner. Through this experience, I successfully assessed potential volunteers and obtained valuable information about their skills and commitment. I gauged the suitability of candidates for various volunteer roles within the organisation and ensured accurate and thorough records for future reference through organising the information in an Excel spreadsheet. I also promoted a positive image of the organisation and encouraged the volunteers' continued interest in volunteering. Through empathetic listening which allowed me to establish rapport, I directly engaged with low-income families by conducting comprehensive needs assessments, gaining valuable insights into the complex realities faced by low-income families while also informing the development of targeted interventions and support services. By empowering families to voice their concerns and actively participate in the decision-making process, I facilitated the creation of sustainable solutions aimed at improving their overall well-being and fostering long-term resilience.

Over the holidays, I worked as a barista for Coconut Queen. I worked in a team of three to manage the operational matters of the outlet, developed skills to work well under pressure, and developed communication skills.
