King is a leader in community building and architecture, with specializations in the remote work revolution, cultivating a global perspective, improving company culture, as well as large or small group facilitation, team-building, and public speaking. After nearly four years of solo travel that saw King backpack, work, and volunteer across four continents, he landed a role in the travel sector as a Program Leader for the digital nomad travel start-up, Remote Year. He was tasked with leading an incredibly diverse group of 70 adults around the world for a year, helping them to bond as a community, become more aware culturally, and grow both professionally and personally. After an incredibly successful program, largely credited to King’s leadership abilities, organization, and management, he was promoted to the role of Director of Community Development for the entire company. Through that role King managed a community of over 2000 digital nomads, further honing his communication abilities and conflict resolution skills. In this role, he also developed and executed numerous new products to bring the community together, and he created traditions and events to foster bonding, growth, and learning both virtually and in person.Prior to his travel life and subsequent professional foray into the travel sector, Travis King spent most of his twenties in the non-profit sector gaining experience as a youth development leader. Immediately after finishing his undergraduate degree, King went on to complete two years of national service through AmeriCorps, the second of which he was a Team Leader for an AmeriCorps NCCC cohort. Following his second year of service, King accepted the position of House Parent at Boys Hope, New Orleans, and shortly after was promoted to the position of House Director. After working for nearly two years at Boys Hope, managing the residential youth scholarship program, King returned to school to pursue a Master's degree in public service, after receiving a prestigious Trinity Fellowship from Marquette University. During his two years of graduate school, King worked at Our Next Generation (ONG), a neighborhood center in the heart of Milwaukee, where he improved and initiated many youth and community programs. King is both a galvanizing force and a self-motivated doer in any professional setting. He is constantly looking for his next challenge professionally, and always eager to learn new things and adapt his eclectic skill set.
