I am a driven individual and I enjoy hearing that things can't be done, then doing them. From running a marathon to starting my own business, I excel despite the frequent doubters. I recently graduated cum laude from MSU Denver with a BS in Applied Geology, and currently own a construction company specializing in small home remodels, repair and maintenance. While I do not intend to pursue a career in construction, owning this company has taught me many important lessons in management, marketing and accounting. I fell in love with geology multiple times in my life. First, it was rocks and dinosaurs when I was 8. Then before college, I took a vacation to Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg, TX, and the massive pink granite batholith piqued my curiosity in geology once again. Finally, there was field camp. The incredible joy of hanging out for weeks at a time with fellow aspiring geologists and talking about rocks, solidified my passion for geology. From this geology became a passion, not just a career choice. Many of my friends have caught my impromptu lectures during hikes or camping trips, and my family loved having a personal geologist tour guide as we visited Yellowstone.Throughout my collegiate experience, I have been employed full-time in various disciplines with each endeavor providing invaluable experience and knowledge. I have learned customer services from bar-tending, attention to detail from asbestos lab work, and perseverance from starting my own company. All of the moments in my life have led me to now. Sure, there are ups and downs, but my varied professional experience gives me a unique outlook on problem solving and thinking outside of the proverbial box.
