I am a full-time teacher and university advisor at Phoenix Magnet Academy in Squamish, BC. I teach a variety of subjects including Math for grades 8-12, English 8-12, Social Studies 8-10, and Careers 8-11. I love my job! From 2012 to 2021, I provided online and in-person instruction and support for SE learners in SelfDesign and SelfDesign High. In addition to teaching Math and Social Studies for grades 10-12, I have also served as a Guiding Mentor for grades 10 and 11. In many of these courses, I worked closely with learners to help them build Learning Plans, Term Projects, and Artifact Portfolios that reflected their academic and personal growth alongside their social and emotional development. I have also worked as a Special Educational Assistant (SEA) for students with low and high incidence challenges. I also have experience as a Special Educational Consultant and High Incidence Consultant; in these roles, I have written ILP’s for grade 12 students and provided their teachers with adaptation guides. Finally, I am proficient in several online tools and platforms, including Kurzweil, OneNote, Google Docs, Google Drive, Moodle, PowerSchool, StudyForge, Zoom, Google Hangouts, and many others.
