About Troy Wingard

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A. – Graphic Design) and the University of Georgia (M.F.A. – Drawing & Painting), Troy Wingard has dedicated much of his career to creating art and sharing what he has personally discovered about its development and promotion.Troy's drawings and sculptures have been featured in numerous venues throughout the United States, as well as solo exhibitions in academic institutions such as Duke University, Grambling State University, the University of South Carolina-Aiken, The University of Mobil, and Coastal Carolina University, among others. His works have also been exhibited internationally, including invitational and solo exhibitions in Cuba, Hungary, and Israel. Troy was also the featured artist in the nationally syndicated magazine, The Pastel Journal (December 2010), and his work has been nationally showcased in two separate editions of New American Paintings (Numbers 34 & 46).Beginning in 2003, Troy started his academic career by being awarded a teaching assistantship during his graduate studies at the University of Georgia, and in 2005 was invited to teach as an adjunct professor within the Drawing & Painting Department of UGA's Lamar Dodd School of Art. For four seasons, he also served as program coordinator, faculty manager, and adjunct professor for the University of Georgia's Latin America Study Abroad Art (LASA) program teaching observational drawing, painting, and figure drawing in countries and locales such as Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands.Troy was hired in 2007 as an assistant professor with Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Visual Art and served as the department's foundation coordinator and undergraduate coordinator. Five years later in 2012, he was hired the Art Institute of Washington-Dulles as an art foundations instructor and as the program coordinator for the AiW-Dulles's School of Design.In 2018, Troy earned a Certificate in Arts Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst while living in Israel for two years as an artist and lecturer. His research utilized prominent Israeli art organizations as case studies to examine similarities within the nonprofit arts management systems and ideologies between Israel and the United States.
