Ty is the Founder & Principal of Cyber Defense West, a CyberSecurity Firm and NCSA CyberSecurity Champion partner focused on educating and advising Non-Profit Organizations, local Small & Home Based businesses regarding CyberSecurity and Data Privacy & Protection. To help further the firm’s mission, Ty is a member of the National Cyber Security Alliance, MIT Certified NCSF CyberSecurity Playbook Practitioner and member of the Information Systems Security Association International. Ty is an Executive Coach and Business Strategist for Smart Habit, a talent development firm that translates business strategy into daily action. Ty assists clients in envisioning and deploying learning experiences that shift mindset and grow their people at all levels of the organization. In addition to advising executives and coaching their leaders, Ty sits on Smart Habit’s Board of Directors and is responsible for achieving the firm’s social impact goals. Ty was employed for over 30 years at Microsoft Corporation. Initially a Microsoft Architect & Engineer, he wrapped up his career as a Senior Leader with responsibilities spanning North, Central, and South America in CyberSecurity Response, COVID Urgent Response, and Modern Workplace Solutions. In this role he focused on leadership, business strategy & execution, culture and people.Prior to joining the civilian sector, Ty was a US Navy veteran with a background in the US Naval Intelligence, today he is an active member of the Maple Valley & Covington Chambers of Commerce.  He is the founder of the CRU foundation, a non-profit which has aided over 24 different charities including Vine Maple Place, Maple Valley Foodbank, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ty and his wife Cassandra enjoy physical fitness, philanthropy, pets, motorsports and relaxing in their hideaway located in Roslyn, WA.. He’s also a passionate learner who continues to develop his own skills. He’s recently completed executive education programs at Wharton, Cornell Law, MIT and Harvard.
