Retention, renewal, churn, customer success, customer journey. These phrases come up all the time in the world of software, challenges to solve. I simply believe that the best solution is empowering your customers immediately, from their very first experience, with meaningful and engaging learning options. For 20 years, I've been teaching, observing, and creating compelling training for the 3D modeling software, SketchUp. I taught in-person classes, weekly, for years, and helped scale our live classes and train new trainers. In person training is ideal, but has limited reach so I also helped create our earliest video tutorials. It's still fun to think of those self-hosted videos in the days before YouTube. But once YouTube did arrive, I created our channel, filled it with videos, both learning and marketing, and grew it to millions of views per month. Even though SketchUp was owned by Google at the time, I was still the sole video and online learning resource for our team and learned to fill many roles. Despite the wide reach and success we achieved with YouTube, it was never the platform we needed for structured learning. I led the team to build SketchUp Campus, first as a custom built site, and later as a hosted platform, built out the site and content and in just over 3 years, we have over 460,000 course enrollments.
