At RIM I had opportunity to do a range CI projects covering Supplier development and Management. Responsibilities included:• Driving and leading continuous improvement plans/Design for Manufacturability and error proofing assembly processes• Designed the MS Access database to trend KPIs (DPPM, SCAR and DMR metrics) and to automatically generate monthly scorecards. The cycle time to produce scorecard reduced from 25 days to 5 days.• Designing statistical experiments/analysis – Multi-Vari chart, ANOVA and ANOMA to improve CTQs like Gaps. Example: Gap between battery door and rear housing from 0.5 < 0.3 mm.• Using Visual basic programming and Monte Carlo simulation established the stack up tolerances at NPI stage – this study lead to reengineering the parts prior to mass production• Coaching Six Sigma projects – 2010 audited savings $ 164K per year• Implemented SPC for NCVM defectives and reduced from .88% to .05 % in 4 months• Creating and maintaining Supplier quality Manual • Maintaining QMS procedures and meeting the requirement of ISO9000:2008 and ISO14001• Working closely with Field quality, Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement containment/corrective actions• Interfacing with component engineering and design team on Radio and Audio related requirements• Conducting process audits of Supplier processes to ensure adherence to approved processes• Promoting use of quality tools such as SPC/FMEA/CP/8Ds and Six Sigma methodology.

Prior to coming to Canada I worked for a Tier 2 Automotive supplier – Aluminum smelter supplying Wheel alloys and Extrusion billets. As Industrial Engineer I was responsible for Quality management systems and Continuous improvement projects, Capital Budgets/expansion projects, Quality Management and IT system development. Some of my relevant achievements are:• Lead the team which implemented QS9000 and later updated to TS16949• Conducted the AIAG core tool training – APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and CP• Implemented and maintained ISO9000/TS16949 quality management system in a large Aluminium smelter• Developed and implemented Six Sigma methodology based continuous improvement program that initiates 30 projects and generates an average savings of US $1M every year.• Re-engineered the “manufacturing to stock” to “manufacture to order” system using the pull a concept.• Reduced “Inquiry to Invoice” cycle time from 20 to 5 days by re-engineering the SOP (Sale Order Processing)• Reduced man hours / ton from 1.2 to .9 in Casthouse with 450 employees, over 2 year period, through Continuous improvement projects.• Increased throughput by 27%, developing a scheduling and shift planning package.
