Extended, improved, and maintained firmware portion of SourcePoint family of CPU in-circuit emulators. Duties included developing specifications and software based upon Intel proprietary documentation and ARM technical reference manuals. Designed firmware features to support SourcePoint application development. Extensive and detailed understanding of the internal structure and behavior of a number of ARM and Intel processors was required. Information exchange and customer visits were employed to co-develop SourcePoint support for new processors. I personally assisted in the bring-up of a number of CPUs, contributing to the customer's verification and debugging effort while developing my own employer's product.

Designed and implemented protocol support for high-performance network edge devices, enabling multi-mega-packet tunnel throughput. Required expertise in traffic encapsulation, ATM, IOS (Internet Operating System), and multiple routing and switching technologies. Support was implemented via microcode in a highly-constrained 64-processor parallel/pipelined processor complex. Previous projects involved CPE architectures, voice and video over data, service provisioning, security features, and distributed database services. All projects adhered to established ISO processes including coding standards, design, and process review. Active in both creation and review of presentations, specifications, and software implementation. Regularly filed patent applications capturing novel and useful inventions. Used Java, C, C++, UML, various assembly languages for standard and custom uniprocessor systems and multiprocessor arrays.

Key architect of Phoenix Plug and Play (PnP) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) solutions. Designed and specified subsystems flexible enough to meet changing requirements, yet efficient enough to be implemented in system BIOS. Modified and rewrote shipping x86 BIOS code to accommodate this new system while improving the BIOS, rendering it more robust and readable. Chaired USB PC Legacy Working Group. Edited resultant USB specification for industry-wide implementation. Presented architectures and USB development roadmaps at company and industry functions. Designed and implemented new technologies and features for PhoenixBIOS 4.0. Represented Phoenix at industry forums to ensure that new technologies evolved beneficially. Fostered excellent working relationships with companies developing products affected by BIOS. Ensured that the core of PhoenixBIOS was robust and compliant with internal coding standards.
