This role encompassed business development and the provision of high level protective security and risk advice to Government and non-government organisations. In addition, specialist advice covers risk mitigation strategies associated with compliance against the Federal Protective Security Policy Framework, major incident planning and response arrangements, Event risk management, physical/information and personnel security strategies, security awareness training, hostile vehicle mitigation and blast risk analysis.

This role involved the provision of protective security and risk advice to Commonwealth and State agencies. This included the conduct of enterprise security risk assessments informing Commonwealth agency compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework. In addition, the services extended to subject matter expertise input into the development of a simulation training package for the Department of Defence.

My role within the DFAT Protocol Branch primarily involved the provision of advice and services to the local Diplomatic Corps, in consideration of Australia's obligations under the international conventions (Vienna Convention). A key focus area entailed assisting with coordination of security arrangements as a central interlocutor between the Dip Corps and Australian Government security agencies. In addition, I represented DFAT as a member of the G20 2014 Security Sub-Committee. I contributed to early security planning for the event and developed a Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities Strategy for incoming delegates.

My work with the Attorney-General's Department involved the coordination of protective security arrangements for Federal Ministers (including three Prime Ministers and two Governors-General) and the Diplomatic Corps. I carried out security risk assessments on a number of high profile and iconic establishments including a protective security risk assessments of Kirribilli House, Government House, The Lodge and the Australian Parliament House.I was involved in security planning and coordination for several major events including APEC 2007, Commonwealth Games 2010 (India), CHOGM 2011 and early planning for G20 2014.

As the Assistant Agency Security Adviser then Acting ASA for the Department of Finance and I managed the Department's protective security requirements and lead a dynamic team of security practitioners. This included the coordination of physical, personnel and information security for the Department, along with significant stakeholder engagement with staff at all levels.
