Veronica started her career as a Certified Family Partner and mother with lived experience, serving and supporting families along their mental health recovery journey. In Veronica's current role, she continues to serve the community and embrace her passion of promoting family voice, person-centered, inclusive and empowered communities by keeping at the core of her work the families and community members she served. Veronica is honored to serve with and lead an incredibly dedicated and passionate team and unit. Currently, Veronica serves as Director of Children’s and Adult Mental Health Services for Texas Health and Human Services. Founder of Better Beehive, a yelp like review website dedicated to promoting accessibility and inclusion for ALL. Veronica has also served on multiple boards such as Vela, a non-profit dedicated to empowering parents of children with special needs. Veronica helped with facilitation and promotion of ATX Hispanic Hackers a group dedicated to promoting diversity in the Austin tech community. Veronica was also a member of Texas Family Voice Network, a group dedicated to promoting family leaders in children’s mental health.
