I am currently a Controls Engineer designing the electrical packages for Atlas Copco's industrial air and gas compressors.Previously, I worked as an instrumentation controls specialist at GlobalFoundries FAB-8. I ensured Air Liquide’s chemical distribution systems performed at a high level of safety and reliability by overseeing the electrical/controls infrastructure as well as the paging system. Since FAB-8 produces chips smaller than 14nm, even seconds of down time could potentially mean millions of dollars in scrapped wafers. To ensure interruptions were kept to a minimum, I serviced PLC/HMIs such as AB MicroLogix and CompactLogix; upgraded and implemented program and logic changes as well as evaluating them for any errors; oversaw installs of new controls related equipment; responded to emergencies and troubleshot controls/electrical issues. Prior to my role as an instrumentation controls specialist, I acted as Air Liquide’s on site Electrical Engineer managing the installation of the electrical/controls infrastructure for FAB-8 that I would eventually manage. Working with FAB-8 representatives and unionized electricians, power distribution equipment, I/O panels, and sensors were scoped and installed for 3 major site expansions. As a design engineer for General Electric, I held engineering ownership of tower electrical internal systems for 1-3MW series of wind turbines. I started during a time when the wind power market was starting to take off so my major focus was developing solutions that were safe, code compliant, cost effective, and sustainable. Within 3 months of joining the team, my ability to quickly learn and adapt was tested when I was tasked to complete a system design for the newly announced 2.5XL model wind turbine. I successfully completed the design on time and under budget which helped GE win the contract for the world's biggest land based wind farm - The Shepherds Flat Wind Farm in Oregon.
