Directed all operations for a network of three radio stations. Provided leadership to a 60 person work force and held full P&L responsibility. Oversaw all finance, business development, marketing, programming, human resources and administrative functions.

Penned the strategic narrative of Mirchi = Music which helped drive our strategy across the two largest markets in the country, we started developing the most high profile music events and associating with leading music celebrities in the country. Analyzed qualitative and quantitative data sets and made recommendations on product changes and marketing communication. Engaged key internal and external customers to arrive at a consensus and execute planned activities.

Radio was privatized in India after Television and after Internet had entered India, this was a unique market situation, no one really switched on radio for entertainment. I drove adoption of private radio as a new media category among advertisers and consumers positioning it as a cool new entertainment option. I collaborated with production teams to develop product features and positioning for prime time shows and non-peak shows to maximize listenership vs competition.

Led adoption of Hollywood movies in the South of India. Instrumental in the box office success of leading titles “Men in Black II”, Stuart Little 2” and “Reign of Fire” in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities through innovative marketing campaigns, road shows, partnerships and promotions.
