YANA, Empathetic Listening as a service, was conceptualized to fulfill unmet needs of users with mild mental health concerns. YANA used its own proprietary curriculum to train "Listening Buddies" who lent a caring ear to thousands of users in Singapore during the tumultuous COVID era. Designed as digital-first, remotely operated business from ground-up, YANA initially did well but couldn't achieve product-market fit once the lockdowns were lifted. Success notwithstanding, it was a rewarding experience both professionally and spiritually.

I had a dual role viz. a ) Finance Leader for Asia Health Care and b) Rescruitment/ staffing head for Asia finance headquarter at Singapore.Key Results: Grew Sales and Profits at double-digits consistently over the past three years via rigorous financial planning and risk management. Qualified the business model for entry (via joint ventures, external partners including contract manufacturers and distributors and regulatory compliance) into 6 new markets of which 4 already entered and 2 work in progress. Led the supply chain design taking full advantage of low cost manufacturing locations, tax benefits while delivering on the important parameters of innovation needs and reliability.Key Responsibilities: Lead the multi-functional team towards the fiscal financial goals and the long term vision of $0.5B sales while ensuring compliance, controls, tax and reporting requirements. Enter into whitespace markets by qualifying a business model for China and identifying potential external partners in other markets.Organization Development: Led recruitment and staffing for entire finance function for Singapore site. Ensured 100% staffing via designing and executing a clutter-breaking recruitment program called Finance Challenge Week. This is currently run across Singapore and Philippines and in the process of being rolled out to rest of the region.Have 5 finance analysts (across brands, plant, forecasting and product supply) reporting into me and worked in close collaboration with a diverse multi-functional team not just in Singapore but also in countries and globally.

I had a dual role viz. a ) Country Finance Leader for Malaysia and Singapore and b) ASEAN Financial Planning and Analysis for Family Care categories viz. Baby Care (Diapers), Fabric Care (Detergents and softeners), Feminine Care (Sanitary Pads), Male Grooming (Shaving) and Respiratory Care.Key Results:Led the portfolio and strategy renewal for ASEAN family care categories to create a five-year vision, identify future gems/ cash cows and financial goals across twenty-five category-country combinations.Led the profit margin improvement plan for laundry category to combat significant increase in commodities/ oil prices. Carried out an analysis using regression as a statistical tool, linked the brand pricing to off-take and recommended a phased out pricing action plan so as to deliver the profitability commitment while minimizing the volume losses.Led the redesign of Malaysia country distribution model to tackle the challenges posed by the twin acquisition of Gillette and Colgate-Palmolive laundry business. Led the acquisition analysis for Colgate-Palmolive’s laundry business in Southeast Asia. Developed the valuation model for this business ($80M turnover) incorporating various synergies based upon multi-functional team inputs. The acquisition was conducted based upon my recommendation. Led the post-merger integration from both the sales and supply chain side.Led the pricing strategy development for Fabric conditioners (Downy). Reestablished the value proposition / value correction by setting up brand pricing principles and strategy based upon product technical tests, consumer blind tests, market shares, estimated foreign exchange devaluation, and financial sustainability.

Mumbai Area, India

Led the setting up of the operations of contract manufacturers across 5 locations in India and Indonesia as part of the outsourcing strategy. Specifically, I led the toll-fee negotiations, project financing and ensured compliance to the legal regulations to avail of tax incentives.Identified cost savings opportunities of $2M through extensive benchmarking of product costs vs. key competition spanning across formulation, manufacturing overheads and simplification of P&G quality guidelines without any consumer noticeable difference.

Mumbai Area, India

Led new business development (through Canteen Stores Department – Indian Army retail chain) and delivered +5% sales.Co-developed a treasury deal with a bank to offer financing solutions to P&G’s vendors at low interest rates by demonstrating that the risk profile of P&G vendors is considerably lower than the industry average. The project was then extended to whole of Asia Pacific Region.
