Viket is a virtual neurosurgery venture developing minimally invasive imaging for intracerebral hemorrhage.

• Provided R&D and Engineering leadership for Bay area startup during CEO transition.• Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Washington; screened new product ideas and advised entrepreneurs; taught customer-centric design including defining business requirements and filling unmet clinical need.• Served as Industry Liaison to the University of Washington Center on Sensorimotor Neural Engineering (CSNE); assisted the 2 academic leaders of the effort in developing a strategy for including companies, to ensure technology transfer success; the group competed for and won an $18 million National Science Foundation grant to found the National Center for Sensory and Motor Neuro Engineering; assembled key contacts from Lockheed, Microsoft, Intel and Children’s Hospital. • Co-founded an Angel investor organization (WINGS); served as Vice President and Chair of the Screening Committee; ensured screening was aligned with investor objectives, resulting in 1 in 3 ideas being funded in the first 3 years.• Co-Founded and served as President of the Northwest NeuroNeighborhood, an advocacy organization to bring awareness and corporate/government funding to neuro enterprises.

• Recruited to rebuild the company’s product development function, following an infusion of $20 million in funding. • Built highly respected and engaged 80-member R&D / Production team that developed the leading product for treatment of DVT in the world, using novel ultrasound technology with drug-delivery catheter.• Worked in collaboration with leading physicians to define product ergonomic requirements, the business environment surrounding the technology, and the unmet clinical need. • Built manufacturing team and facilities; directed CMO, supply chain, and IP strategy.• Established engineering rules and best practices including FEA, CFD, Fail-Fast, Shainin, DFx, and DOE.• Initiated expansion to a world-class production facility with zero disruption to rapid growth.• Cultivated relationships and worked directly with luminaries (Interventional Cardiologist, Radiologist, and Vascular Surgeons) to adopt product prior to definitive clinical study and launch 1st-year use and sales. • Featured in MD&DI cover article, June 2005.• Launched product and achieved $5 million in 1st-year sales; company was acquired in a deal worth $180+ million.

• Recruited to lead R&D for product which used innovative silicone catheter delivery of LED technology and photo-dynamic drug to treat large tumors. Built the microelectronics design and assembly team and entered clinical trial phase.• Developed strategic partnership with Agilent Malaysia for contract manufacturing of custom LEDs and provided Agilent Malaysia with expertise in innovation and patenting.

• Launched medical product consulting firm working on multiple product development projects simultaneously for companies in Georgia, California, and Seattle. • Developed innovative business model to execute design work on secondary projects for cardiology companies. • Retained by startup firm to develop urology product for paraplegics; worked with patients to define requirements and invented a urology product extension for self-catheterization; led to acquisition of client’s company.• Developed IP and prototypes for startup in beating-heart surgery and reverse blood flow in an ischemic heart.• Developed peripheral vascular drug delivery product which led to $3 million in funding.

• Key member of the executive leadership team of startup company with innovative fluorescence spectroscopy device used in the diagnosis of cervical pre-cancer. Raised $5.5 million Venture Capital seed funding with CEO and VP Clinical. • Led an R&D organization which included scientists from Sandia National Labs and University of Texas academics, who developed the product prototype; built internal team and transferred technology in-house.• Formed scientific advisory board of luminaries who created the clinical protocol and assisted in informing product specifications.• Interviewed and filmed German, French, and US gynecologist thought leaders in their facilities, resulting in international ergonomic product design. Prototype system proved feasibility of 3-D spectroscopy.• Developed unique method to cast vaginal dimensions, leading to non-threatening, ergonomically correct hand-piece.• Conducted Board presentations and managed OUS clinical trials.
