Profile bio

About Mark Telfer

My name is Mark Telfer. I’m a passionate and experienced game designer, and I'm eager to apply my experience with a team that shares my drive and commitment for creating engaging, innovative, and powerful experiences. I have over five years of professional experience, I have successfully shipped a retail game as lead designer, and have broad design experience in systems design, level design, and user experience (UX) design. My goal is to obtain a position in the video game or simulation industry where I can collaborate as a game designer. * Experience Through InnovationAfter completing my Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Design and Game Development at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I joined the team of Chromatic Games (formerly Trendy Entertainment) as a technical designer. I worked on the Dungeon Defenders franchise, an innovative fusion of cooperative tower defense and role-playing (RPG) gameplay. My work as technical designer encompassed producing pivotal features in Dungeon Defenders II, a live game available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. My designs included spearheading a deep and rewarding crafting system, redesigning the procedurally generated loot, creating the new user experience (NUE), crafting and balancing a monetarily successful lootbox feature, and implementing these designs (and more) in Unreal 3 and Kismet script.* Proven LeadershipMy work as a technical designer gained recognition from my coworkers and our fans, earning me a promotion to lead designer. As lead designer, I led a team of designers for the full development cycle of Dungeon Defenders Awakened, the franchise’s latest sequel developed in Unreal 4. I personally designed the core systems of the game, including procedural loot, player stat progression, difficulty scaling, enemy scheduling systems, currency systems, and more. I also provided direction for game balance, level design, and UX design. I contributed to feature implementation with Blueprint scripting. I championed the creative direction of Dungeon Defender II’s (DD2) final two content updates. These updates received acclaim from our player base, generating and maintaining the highest user reviews in DD2’s five-year history. These updates were produced on the smallest budget that content updates had ever received.* Ready to Collaborate!Passionate and driven, I am ready to embark on the next chapter of my career where I can collaborate with talented teams that share my enthusiasm.Visit my website ☞ www.marktelfer.com
