Viral leads Deloitte’s Sustainability and Climate practice in South Asia. He works with clients to devise and introduce multi-disciplinary solutions for Sustainability and Climate initiatives, to help them realise their Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. With over 26 years of consulting experience, Viral supports clients across industries in the public and private sector to design and drive their ESG strategy and transformation, helping them deliver social impact, transition to net-zero, build responsible value chains, introduce transparent disclosures and reporting, and bring about climate resilience. Viral takes particular interest in technologies for mitigating climate change and has mentored several startups who have won the Earthshot prize.Viral sponsors a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Climate and Sustainability in Asia Pacific and a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Roorkee. He is also responsible for WorldClimate in South Asia, which focuses on reducing the Deloitte's carbon footprint.Prior to this role, Viral led the Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Analytics practice in India, where he focused on strategic clients, serving them in areas such as such as strategy, innovation, enterprise transformation, and operations improvement leveraging analytics and artificial intelligence. Viral has led several large, global engagements in areas such as GBS strategy, IT Outsourcing, Shared Services/GBS Design and Implementation, as well as GIC transformation (including robotics and cognitive automation) for large conglomerates in India, as well as multinationals in US, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. He has led hands-on implementation of these strategies on some of the largest and most complex assignments. Viral has also served on the India Consulting Executive Committee. Prior to Deloitte, Viral had established the Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory practice for KPMG in India, where he also served on the Board of Directors. Prior to that, Viral worked for Daimler-Benz Research and Technology, where he was engaged in transportation and mobility research, focusing on telematics-based initiatives.Viral serves on the Management Committee of the Chandaramji School in Mumbai, one of the oldest schools focused on the education of girls, and is involved with Saraswatam, which operates 22 schools and 102 Anganwadis in the Kutch district.
